Since i have had Opel calibra my power windows never worked, whenever i pressed the window switch nothing happened. So i decided to bypass the original conection and made my own window switches whitch work great.
Now i have decided to troubleshoot this problem as i want the extra features of the OEM wiring as my windows go too far up and when i close the door not making it seal properly. I just started by putting the original switch from my 2 calibra for spares. havent had any luck yet.

Answer:

Under the centre console, just near the handbrake is a plug that joins the loom from the power windows and trip computer to the main loom

Mine where playing up and i found the issue there, the plug wasn’t pushed in correctly

Question:

looks like I stuffed up replacing my timing belt a few months ago. I didnt’ know there was supposed to be a spacer behind the main spring-loaded ‘tensioner pulley’. this seems to have caused the tensioner to tighten right up and tighten the belt up so that it grazed against a bolt sticking out and wrecked the belt. there was still a section of the belt that remained in tact and therefore it didn’t break completely and therefore, hopefully the timing was still ok and hasn’t damaged the valves (the engine still starts) -but I turned it off as quickly as possible when I heard there was a problem.

I no longer have my old parts when I replaced my timing belt the first time and I don’t know how wide the missing Spacer would have been. I’m waiting on getting a new timing belt- I’m hoping that maybe someone on this forum knows about the mistake I’ve made here- and maybe knows how I can find out the exact width of the spacer so that when I replace the new belt it’s a perfect fit with the new belt.

Answer:

well it seems like you are sh.t out of luck here. it looks like a washer or spacer can be seen in the kit photo. so i’d suggest buying another kit not just a belt. short of that, call up vauxhall car parts or autovaux and see if they can find a kit and give you the dimensions of the spacer.

falling even shorter of that, get on the calibra website here or the UK and hope that someone doing a v6 belt change can help you out. there is currently one australian rebuilding their v6 on the UK Forums but that is a fast moving project.

Question:
Water Softener Or Water Filter for my car service?

Answer:

Water, the substance we depend on for survival; odorless, colorless and tasteless yet fundamental to the survival of all life. It will dissolve nearly everything it comes in contact with and carry that substance with it. Knowing that our water supply is safe is important; and knowing potential problems with the water coming into our home and how to make it safer is equally important.

There are a number of potential problems that can occur along the way with water that comes into our homes; among them, high levels of calcium, minerals and sediment, otherwise known as hardness. Hard water can really be damaging to your home’s plumbing and appliances. For many years people have been turning to softeners, also known as conditioners, that use salt to neutralize minerals causing water to be “hard.”

When home owners are on municipal sewage systems the salt brine from softeners or conditioners backwashes into the system. Sodium makes its way into the nation’s waterways. Those same waterways eventually become the water supply to other homes further down the stream. In areas where softeners are frequently used, large amounts of sodium have become quite a challenge! Municipal water departments are unable to bear the expense of reverse osmosis systems in order to remove the sodium, so they have no choice but to allow it on through to their customers. In some cities, sodium from water softeners has become such a challenge they have banned the use of salt brine conditioners altogether.

Beyond the challenges of sodium in the system, softeners/conditioners do nothing to address the larger problems of contamination. Cysts, chemicals and disinfection byproducts, pharmaceuticals and other carcinogens numbering in the hundreds are in the public and well water supplies. Conditioned water may help your plumbing, but it does absolutely nothing to address the real dangers to you health posed by these contaminants.

Some softener (Calgon water softener for sample) companies are going door to door or doing telephone solicitation to get into your home to sell their salt brine systems. They are promoting these systems as if they are home filtration systems. Unfortunately, their demo is pretty impressive and so are their claims. The price tag is pretty impressive too. That is, if “impressive” means up to $8800.00! That’s a lot of dough to make your pipes happy!

There is a new, state-of-the-art alternative that provides not only the ultimate in water softening, but the ultimate in purification as well. It’s called Nano-filtration.

Answer:

Here in CA you can have all four done for $150U US or less. Thats why when I saw one for sale locally, I bought it. I have never used fender roller but I can’t wait.

Have a look on UK and German eBay.

Roose Motorsport in the UKL is another that might be able to help you. They do hose kits for Opel/Vauxhall cars.

I drive Calibra turbo 95 model, when i got it 6-8 months ago, it was factroy as. First thing i instaled was boost gauge and turbo timer. gauge was showing me 4-5psi all the time and still does if i take off doggy bleed velve off. I took it to 3 mechanics and still no help, last one did full check up, all hoses are good, actuator good, turbo good…., they say it might be computer playin safety but not sure, anyone knows about this problem?

Answer:

Some Euro cars go into limp mode when aftermarket turbo timers and guages are installed. It can confuse the ecu so it goes into limp mode for safety reasons. Best answer i have.

Can anyone help me with my central locking problem, as of like 3 days ago, it suddenly stoped working, and fuse is still fine, battery is fine, no clue where to begin from here

Answer:

If you follow the metal rod it will come to a black plast rectangle thing, this is the central locking motor. The Master one is on the drivers side and slave on the passenger side.

If you have a volt meter you can test if there’s power going to it when turning the key. If there is then its the motor thats gone. Would have a clue how much Holden will charge for it but it wont be cheap. Try a wrecker.

The Cali’s came out with 2 different 2.0L yeah? Which one is the better of the 2?

Reason i’m asking is that I can no longer get the Cam i want, and am considering just saving up for a 2.0L conversion.

Answer:

for the c20xe there were the non-ecotechs from 91-94, they had the L shape rocker cover, they produced 110kw, the 95-97 ecotechs produced 100kws..

the 94 model had the L shape cover, but said ecotech on it.. it’s a fake ecotech..

then theres the c20let turbo, i think they were same all the way thru.. not sure tho.. got about 155kw methinks. then there was the 8v single 2l, that came only in the auto’s, had something like 80kw or something

Answer:

Opel’s dealers probably don’t want to know.
Your Cally is more or less 10 Years old, Theres still Parts in the Holden Warehouse for Geminis. Get a Part Number, Goto a Dealer, Don’t tell them what it is or what it’s for.

Up until 3 years ago, I was buying Genuine Isuzu Parts from Holden for Geminis and Piazza.
They have to carry Parts, A Average Service book goes up to 15 years after sale Service.

I have the v style grill on my cail any suggestions how to opelise it? Also my air con does not work. when ya press the button doesn’t click on – compresser ?

Answer:

It’s probably outta gas. When the gas level is low the compressor won’t engage. If you get the gas replaced get it dyed so you can find the leak.

Yeh call the place that re-gassed is and ask if they dyed the gas – if they did use a UV light to look for the bright green dye to find the leak. Either that or it’s an electrical fault – you can check the compressor clutch by connecting 12 volts directly to the wire going into the compressor. If it clicks in then maybe one of the pressure switches is faulty.
