Old worn engine
Question:
found out about 1 month ago that i had a head gasket leak. The reason why i came to that conclusion is that i keep on getting a bit oil on my coolant. I decided to take it to my mates and get a compression test on each of the cylinders.
DRY TEST cyl 1: 120 cyl 2: 115 cyl 3: 120 cyl 4: 125
WET TEST cyl 1: 145 cyl 2: 140 cyl 3 : 145 cyl 4: 145
(bit of oil in
in each cylinder)
With this figures improving with the wet test it tells me that the piston rings are worn, to fix this for better compression a engine reconditioned will be required.
Ive got the head gasket kit for the car on the shelf, I purchased another calibra for parts the motor has done 160k compared to my 230k.
i was thinking on swaping engines but using the head of my calibra since the calibra with 160k has bad tappet noise and the head on mine has been shaved.
Any ideas on what i should really do?
Answer:
depends if u do it urself or get some1 to do it.
oil pump bout 200-500
bearings, mains and big ends, bout 160
rings bout 180
pistons if needs to be bored oversize – not sure upto 1K, hopefully bout 300-500.
