Fitting Drivers Side Window
Question:
Does the front quarter window need to come out to fit the drivers side window? Am having problems. The manual says to manipulate the window away from the lifting guide, then lift window out back end upwards. When reversing this procedure the rear guide rail attachment on the window will not fit in the window slot in the door (the slot comes in at the end) also the guide on the front quarter window gets in the way. It appears to need to be put in, over the window after it is in place.
Answer:
Yes, you remove the mirror, take out the front quarter window (is attached to main window guide) and then put in the main door window. Is a two person job as it is a bit fiddly.
Put the main window in and then rear guide rail. Finger tighten screws. Put front quarter window assembly in. Finger tighten screw.
First align the front quarter window with main window down. (test by shutting door, you will see a mark where it sat previously).
Next adjust the main door window (loosen the two bolts on the bracket attached to the window lifter, move slightly, tighten and test the window sits properly when the door is shut.) Check the other side window as a reference as to how it sits in the door seal.
Took two or three shots to align each. Saved $170 on fitting.
